Privacy Policy — PAE Bird

PAE Bird is a math productivity app available as a macOS application, a Microsoft Excel® add-in, a LibreOffice Calc extension, and a Google Sheets™ add-on. This policy describes how PAE Bird handles your data across all products, as well as on this website.

This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (such as which pages are viewed and general device/location information). This is separate from the PAE Bird products themselves, which are covered below and do not include analytics or tracking of any kind. See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google Analytics processes data.

Data Collection

The PAE Bird macOS app, Excel® add-in, LibreOffice Calc extension, and Google Sheets™ add-on collect no personal data of any kind — no names, email addresses, account information, or device identifiers are collected, stored, or shared by any PAE Bird product.

macOS App, Excel Add-in, and LibreOffice Calc Extension

• All mathematical processing happens entirely on your device.
• No data is sent to any server or third party.
• No analytics, tracking, or telemetry are included.
• No account or login is required.
• The Excel add-in and LibreOffice Calc extension are free to use. The macOS app is free to download, with an optional annual subscription that is billed and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store — PAE Bird does not receive or store your payment information.

Excel® Add-in

The PAE Bird Excel® add-in loads its math engine (a WebAssembly file) from GitHub Pages (salmon-benedict.github.io) when the add-in is first opened. This is a standard web request to download app code; no user data or spreadsheet content is transmitted. All calculations run locally inside Excel after the engine is loaded.

Google Sheets™ Add-on

The PAE Bird Google Sheets™ add-on works differently from the macOS and Excel® versions. When you use a PAE Bird formula (such as =PAE_SOLVE("x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0")), the math expression you type as the formula argument is sent to a PAE Bird API server hosted on Railway (railway.app) for processing. The result is returned to your spreadsheet.

• Only the math expression string you provide as a formula argument is transmitted.
• No spreadsheet content, cell data, or personal information is accessed or sent.
• Expressions are processed in real time and are not stored or logged by the server.
• No account or login is required.

Files

The macOS app reads and writes CSV files only when you explicitly load or save them using the app's file dialogs. These files remain on your device under your control. The Excel add-in writes results directly into your spreadsheet; no file data leaves your device.

Feedback Form

The optional feedback form opens Google Forms in your browser. Any information you choose to submit is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Submitting feedback is entirely voluntary.
